Sergeant Buzfuz are a seven piece indie/pop/folk/antifolk/rock/postpunk group based in south London led by Joe Murphy who also plays solo under his own name and co-runs the Blang record label. Joe's songs are a mixture of the pop. post-punk and folk he grew up listening to in Sheffield and the storytelling tradition of his Irish ancestors.

Fifth album "Go To The Devil And Shake Yourself" (2012) chronicled the story of the first fourteen centuries of the papacy. Gideon Coe played tracks seven times on his BBC 6 show. Ian Rankin listed it in his top twenty albums of the year. Joe and Polly performed the album as a show at the Edinburgh Free Fringe in 2012.

Sixth album "Balloons For Thin Linda" is due out in April 2015. It's a collection of stories about London (and one about Sheffield).

Sergeant Buzfuz have played BBC 6 Music sessions for Tom Robinson (twice) and Marc Riley.

Joe ran the Blang nights at London's 12 Bar Club for ten years from 2002 which gave birth to the Blang label which he started in 2005.
